Where to Find Us

written by Chuck Foster

YOU BETTER GET OUT OF THE WAY, or step aside, ‘cause THE TRUCKS are coming to town and they're traveling at maximum over-drive. If you haven’t heard of these gals from Bellingham yet, it’s time to turn off the iPod and check them out in a town near you. It may take awhile since they’re not expected back in Seattle from their national tour until November 10th at the High Dive. But it’s well worth the wait.

We caught their high-energy performance at the Crocodile on October 4th, and it was standing – or should I say, jumping – room only. They label themselves as indie-pop, but they could easily throw a little punk into that description. Imagine one part Devo, one part Go-Gos, and one part original Northwest, and you get a taste of what to expect.

What you might not expect is the magnitude of synchrony and balance these gals posses – it’s literally through the roof. They take turns singing, playing keyboards, jumping and dancing, and lead crowds into a hypnotic clap at will. Their songs are as energetic as the band itself, and equally diverse. Some mention death while one mentioned Johnny Cash and a homo, at least that’s what I could make out of it between the whiskeys. Whiskey or not, they’re one Hell-of-a show.
