BUTCHER'S BLOCK Dear reader, This month I present to you an interview with my favorite Greek vocalists (also one of my top 5 favorite vocalists of all time), the mysterious Wrath of DODSFERD. He sings and plays Black Metal like it should be: dirty, raw, unforgiving, grim, cold and all around saturated in hatred. Get comfortable, order your drink or pour it yourself and read on for a glimpse at the entity known as Wrath. I must say, your voice is filled with hatred. Everything Dodsferd just reeks of abhorrence for humanity and the world. When I listen to your blood curdling vocals, I 666% believe that there is NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING you find remotely ‘pleasant’ in this world, outside of death. So, I guess to start this interview off, when did you become like this? Or were you always like this? Do you, or can you remember a ‘happy’ time in life? Would you say that your music is a perfect reflection of who you are? I created my own world, Dodsferd! My own haven away from this world and its poisonous human germs that worsen my condition! I was ill! Only the thought of death was my companion! Now, there is nothing significant that could make me return to this drained planet! I am just continuing my journey, without any thoughts and feelings for anyone and anything! Happy times are only for the dreamers! You could say that my music is a perfect reflection of Wrath! You say you were ill, may I inquire with what? Or did you mean it in a figurative sort of way? Despair is a strange thing... I have felt it, and most of my closest friends have as well. (I am talking about true despair, not ‘woe is me’ occasional sadness). Most people carry on with their worthless lives without knowing the torment and comfort that is despair. I often rant about my outside projects (lyrics, short sordid stories, etc.) and I know that only the most horrid feelings inspire those. Does despair drive you? What does it really take to get a DODSFERD album rolling? What does it really take to get a Dodsferd album rolling? We have something in common then. Should we ever cross paths, we must have a drink... or five. What you create, with Dodsferd and your other projects, is it pretty much something JUST for you? Or do you wish to drag others down or enlighten them as you were some time ago? In other words: is Dodsferd for you entirely selfish or selfless... or maybe both? I may be shooting myself in the foot here, hehe, but you stated you are not interested in ‘enlightening’ others, which believe me, I can absolutely understand. So, I guess my question is: why answer interviews like this one? Or for that matter, why have your albums released at all? I am not interested in how many out there are going to read it! It’s like a secret conversation between you and me, with the difference that it can be easily revealed to others! I am not like all these useless shepherds who try to present themselves as experts and impress with their sayings any future stupid sheep through interviews! That would be too easy! Nothing will be easy for a Dodsferd follower! To end with that issue, I have never asked to be interviewed by anyone in order to promote my music and my band! I have never begged for anything at all! Also, the official release of my albums are the results of the existence of some respectful people, faithful and true to the underground believers who have understood my philosophy and wanted to support the person Wrath, his music and philosophy 100%! Total respect and eternal hails to great Odin and Moribund Records! Some people use Black Metal as a tool to spread Satanism (i.e. atheism, devil worship or whatever said individuals consider Satanism). From what I have read and heard, Dodsferd seems to be more anti-human than anything. I’m a bit curious about your religious standpoint. Do you consider yourself a Satanist, atheist or Devil worshipper? What do you think of religion as a whole? I know Europe is a lot different than America. Here, Black Metal is a little trendy. And a lot of people go to the shows and buy albums, but only for the ‘status’ of it, not because it’s really a part of them. Anything you would like to say to those who buy your records but don’t understand them? I have to ask about shows, and yes, I know this is a most ‘generic’ question, but have you played live? Could you describe your live performances for us ‘underprivileged’ closet-living Americans? Dodsferd is entirely WRATH... just you and no one else. Do you find it easier to work alone? I thank you for your time Wrath, it is most appreciated. As I have told you before, you are one of my absolute favorite vocalists and if I had more time I would inquire about many more things. But time, like my glass, often runs empty. We are at the ‘money shot’ question: your last words? Hails to the worthy? Fuck offs to the undeserving? A contact maybe for those who dare? With Respect, |
