Good Night, and Good Luck

review by Zak Weedman

OK, I am surely in the shit-house now. But before you bash me, hold your temper – certainly if you haven’t seen Good Night, And Good Luck. This is a flick that needs to be watched stoned, with plenty of friends. It’s a disturbing comparison of past national policies and present, specifically the Red Scare of the 1950s. You can really feel the Brown Scare of today that has led to preemptive wars, domestic spying, wasted tax dollars, etc, etc, etc!

Nothing compares to the message in this film, either. And the film work by Clooney is nothing short of brilliant; combining real footage with a B&W presentation makes this movie work in so many ways it truly deserves more space that I prefer to use.

And last, after the buzz has worn-off and friends have left, make another drink and watch this one again. I promise, it’s worth seeing twice.

I’ll try to get back on the green-brick road next month – till then, smoke a bowl and enjoy these flicks found at Island Video and City Limits DVD!
