| The Dominant Paradigm Sweet Chastity by Mistress Blue - Vol 3 Issue 33 If being forced to forego orgasms or sex appeals to you (or your dominant), you may have a taste for chastity. Lucky for you, the market is full of strange-looking devices to help you with your fantasy. Considerations in Choosing a Chastity Device How long will you be enforcing chastity? If you are only going to lock your sub up for a scene, almost any chastity device will work fine, including leather ones. The main consideration here will be: Will your sub be able to get out of the device? I don't usually worry about them cutting the material during a scene, since I will be supervising the whole time. The key here is really to make sure you adjust everything corrrectly – tight enough that the device won't come off, but not so tight you cut off circulation or damage tissue. For long term chastity enforcement, many more concerns come into play. Consider each of these factors when evaluating a device for long-term wear: 1. Security. You probably won't be around every second to make sure your sub doesn't try to take the device off. Make sure the device is secure enough that the sub can't work his or her way out of it. Of course, leather and plastic devices can be cut and even acrylic can be broken or sawed through – but then the tampering will be evident. Also consider how secure the device is against self-stimulation. Male devices that prevent erections are inherently pretty secure against this. Female chastity devices may not necessarily prevent orgasms, as some women can have orgasms from pressure against the clit or even without touching themselves at all. The goal for female chastity devices should be to prevent penetration. 2. Comfort. Scary-looking metal cock cages and big chains are great for a scene, but try sitting at your desk with metal digging into your balls. A long-term chastity device needs to be comfortable enough to be worn 24/7. The acrylic CB-2000 series for men (CB-2000, CB-3000, and The Curve) have increased comfort on their side, since they are lightweight and smooth. I have had submissives wear these devices for months without ill effect. The neoprene- and silicone-lined devices from Europe also provide added comfort. I find that one of the biggest factors in comfort is how well the manufacturer designed the device to move and fit with the body, regardless of whether the device is metal, acrylic, plastic, etc. It must provide a snug fit to prevent chafing but also avoid digging into the flesh. None of these devices is going to be truly comfortable, but they must at least be bearable. 3. Body functions. Unlike in a scene, your sub must be able to urinate and defecate while in long-term chastity bondage. A long-term device must provide easy means to do this--generally via holes. 4. Hygiene. The device must be rust-proof and easy to keep clean. All materials must be water-safe, as your sub must be able to take showers and clean the device in some way. Chastity Device Sources Local stores, most notably The Crypt (206-325-3882) and SNM Underworld (206-322-5541), carry some chastity devices. Call for availability. Mr. S Leathers JT's Stockroom The Water Hole European Manufacturers Carrara Neosteel This is just a brief sampler of what's out there, not even touching on the chastity devices and techniques that work by locking through body piercings. As you can see, there are many options for both short-term and long-term chastity. |
