| Athiest Rat Wrath of God: History of Judaism Vol 2 Issue 16 The only thing I can think of that surpasses the overwhelming monstrosities of hatred visited upon the Jews is the ill treatment of African slaves in the American colonies. The words Jew, Jewish, Judaism, Hebrew, Heeb, Jesus Killer, Evil, Satan, and The Devil all spring forth from the bigoted world we live in. We also nod to the stereotype that Jews run the media, H0llywood and the world banks. While we gentiles have grown more tolerant of Jews, there is still a strong anti-Semitic undercurrent in our culture. Christianity is the source of this bigotry. The writers and/or translators of the New Testament forever sealed their hatred of the Jews as they spread lies that were literally passed off as the truth. This ignorant arrogance is anathema to me. I believe in the veracity of the scientific method. I would never come to a conclusion about a problem based on faith. It took me 2 years to finally become convinced from evolutionary evidence that a 'god' was impossible, and could never be more then the fantastic imaginations of ancient men. Hell, a runny achy nose seems kind of an odd idea if you believe an omni-potent being whipped up the world with a few spoken Hebrew words; evolution just begins to make sense after a few allergies (another simple genetic flaw). I was quite shocked about what I discovered concerning Jewish culture. Many ethnic groups all over the world call themselves "Jews". Some have 5 books called the Torah, others include later books called the Talmud, and even more consider the whole concept silly nonsense. Yes there are atheistic Jews. I fit right in. The word "Jew" is a slang term from the Greek word 'Judean'. Larger, more dominant cultures most always gave their hapless neighbors new names, like barbarian, German, atheist, etc. The people who hailed from the land of Judea, called Jews, are NOT the Hebrews talked about in the Bible. It’s simply a different time period. One’s ancestors have no bearing on today's culture. In other words, I have English ancestors but I am not English, nor do I consider my Christian ancestors to define my religious beliefs. People slowly change over time; no one would go to Germany today and call the people Nazis. Don't forget that Jews tend to pump in legends as factual accounts in history too. Take today in Israel with the minimalists and maximalists, but still no evidence of Biblical history has been found. The Babylonian captivity, Persia, Alexander the Great, Hellenistic and Roman rule are all nice archeological time periods, but no revelations occurred. I doubt the deluge myth really happened. What about the origin of man myth? Humans were supposedly made out of dirt with the phrase "in OUR own image.” If there is "one god", why did they write OUR? Maybe these people believed in multiple deities at the time. Before I go off into a rant about the Old Testament lets just say I see these Biblical accounts as simple legends. That means no king Solomon, no Moses, and no Jesus. Sorry! Wrong Testament. While we're on the subject, why do most Jews hate the whole 'Jesus' concept? They had nothing to do with the creation of Jesus; he was not a Jewish person, so get over it. This obsessive idea that Jesus was a Jew just because some ancient Greek faction wrote this idea, in Greek, does not mean that it's true. Hebrew slaves in Egypt are another 'tale' that has caused a great deal of grief and I'm afraid this is one for the myth section, as well. We must instill in our children that truth is a precious resource and when you implant silly stories of mythical beings into reality we lose even further as a species. Don't get me wrong; I hold no ill will toward any group. I only hope I can get people to think about the crazy crap they still believe in, even today. If you do nothing further, at least take the time to really look at what you actually believe in. Perhaps you too will realize that these myths hold no purpose except for entertainment. Despite a few ancient stories that never happened in the Bible, and let's not forget all that Zionism non-sense either, Jews are just like us, probably more like the Amish but a lot smarter. I can only hope for the day when all the people of the Earth can put down their silly doctrines of religion and come together for humanity. We could embrace life, we could lose hatred and prejudice, and hunger with illness could slip into our past where it belongs. Well I can dream, can't I? Just thinking of the tragedies that went on during the Spanish inquisition is enough to never let me forget what inanities men have put their faith through. Hopefully, others who read of these horrors will come to realize violence only begets violence. There is one thing I greatly admire about the Jews that Christians, with their ego headed bigotry, could learn: Out of all the chaos they have remained a strong and humble people. Even though their faith in mythology has clouded their judgment with the crazy idea that you will be rewarded for kissing a deity's ass, they proved one can still learn to appreciate life. I understand why the ancient Hebrews who were captured, by one culture or another, would make-up a history of their own to believe in. Hell! That's how all Religions began in the first place, the evolutionary ego of man's own importance. |
